The Gab Blog

In the Background of Hidden Figures

I was 12 weeks postpartum when I got the job. Trying to get back to work but still not feeling like myself. I was doing a church scene where I was seated directly behind leading ladies Janelle Monae, Taraji P. Henson and Octavia Spencer. There was an energy flowing throughout the set, a feeling of pride and sisterhood filled the atmosphere. Although I was in the background, I felt valued and I thanked God throughout the very long days of filming for opening the door for me to contribute to such an important film.

Hidden Figures is a true story based on the lives of Katherine Johnson, Mary Jackson and Dorothy Vaughan, women who were brave enough to be brilliant, bold enough to live their dreams and unashamed of the beauty of their blackness!

Again, God placed me right where I needed to be to get the motivation I needed to keep being the woman I am becoming!

GOOD JOB GABBIE!

Thanks to the support of Gabbie's family, friends & fans, she landed the #6 spot as a top 25 finalist for the Hallmark Network's Home & Family DIY Star competition!  This Mississippi girl is no stranger to the DIY world, as an independent recording artist, Wife and Mother of 3 (yep, she had a baby recently); making things fabulous while being frugal is her speciality!

"Gabbie McGee exudes positive energy. As an arts advocate and lover of music, I have, on several occasions, engaged with the Gabbie McGee "experience"! Experience is the best way to describe the encounters because they left me wanting more. High energy, positive vibes and enjoyable entertainment! She is the consummate live performer!"

"Gabbie is one of the most hard working women I know in the music business. Her voice is like butter and you will melt the moment you hear her. Her lyrics are honest and accessible and she is engaging, and lovely to watch in a live performance. She includes her family in her work instead of managing them on the side. Gabbie is a wonderful role model of a renaissance woman for 21st century women."
